Why all Christians must pray against the unknown.

Why all Christians must pray against the unknown.

I have often stated that we are living in spiritual war zone. Fights will therefore come to us whether we are looking for it or not.

Eph 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

We must therefore live ready for when the battles of life present themselves.

Sometimes ago a story was shared with me about a friend who was burdened with the urge to pray against gang up at work. In his mind, he couldn’t understand why he was being asked to pray about work because as far as he knew he just started the job and everything was going great. He was very happy and was eager to make on impression. He however obeyed the Holy Spirit and prayed that God should cease all the evil beast in the land for his sake. In other words, God should fight all battles for him in his work. He prayed about it for a few days and left it at that.

My friend further stated that he went to work two days after his last prayer and he was asked go see his line manager. His line manger stated that he was told that he has been turning up for work late, he demanded that he should explain why he was late for work. My friend was now speechless because as far as he knew he was early for work every day.

He explained to the manger that he was no aware that he was late for work because as to the best of his knowledge he has always been early. He got off with a warning but he knew that it was divine intervention which quenched the fiery dart from the enemy.

The essence of the story here is that, we must not wait until things happen to start praying but must cultivate the attitude of praying against the enemy without ceasing.

Three year ago, whilst in my very early stage of pregnancy, 23 weeks to be exact, early one morning I got a wakeup call from the Holy Spirit telling me to get up and pray. The urge was so strong that I had to comply. A powerful worship song and a scripture was given to me on spot. I then prayed for safe delivery of my baby even though my due date was not until four months. Before that day ran out I was in premature labour and two and half days later I had my son. He was born to us at 23 weeks old. To God be the glory our beautiful son is alive and well and letting his presence known in our home.

I believe if the Holy spirit did not intervene and got me to labour in prayer then the story of my family would have been different.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, “You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?  Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.”

Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the proconsul saw, what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.” (Acts 13:8-12)

The enemy is against everything good in our lives, that includes our job, family, finances, spirituality among other things. That is why praying without ceasing is needed.

This quench the darts of the enemy and render his attacks null and void.

Pray this simple prayer over your life and I see the protection of God reinforced in your life in Jesus’ name.

“Father in the name of Jesus, we destroy every plan and purpose of hell against all areas of my life, my spouse’s life and my children’s life, amen”

As you make praying your lifestyle I see your enemy fleeing from you in Jesus’ name.

Remain blesse, and as always, I would love to hear from you.

Let’s stay praying, and watch God change the world! It’s so easy to take for granted this wonderful gift of prayer; thank you for reminding me of this gift!
