How to access God’s plan for your life in 2016.
All of us at some point would have set New Year’s resolutions, but find that soon after we are back to where we started. According to Michael Hyatt 1 out of four people abandon their new year’s resolution after one week while 60 % give after 6 months.
Have you ever felt overwhelmed and disappointed by this?
The bottom line is we all want to be resolute to achieve these goals but the hard truth is we cannot do it by ourselves.
What we need is direction from a higher power in order to stay on track and achieve our goals.
From scriptures we can see that God himself has a plan for us and that is what we ought to strive to achieve in order to have that fulfilment we all yearn for. Consider it taking steps to possess your possessions. Jeremiah 1:5
How therefore can we do that?
1. Through the reading and meditating on the God’s word- God’s word is potent; its efficacy cannot be over emphasized. The scriptures are God’s blueprint for our lives. It will show us what his thoughts are for us, and how we should live. His word also inspires us, corrects us, and directs us.
There are several promises regarding our lives in scriptures but we can only step into these promises when we know what they are.
Knowing God’s word also act as a guide (Joshua1:8) to our daily lives.
Therefore when we are off track we will be able to recognize this.
The word of God is like a shining light, it’s make it clear to us when our glorious destiny is under attack from the devil.
2. Through prayers- The bible teaches us that we should not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
It doesn’t matter how big our plans are, God can handle them. We can all admit that at times they get too much for us so we need that higher power. When it gets to the point that we feel like giving up or we don’t know what to do, a prayer for direction will be useful. As long as we pray according to his will ( 1 John 5 14-15) then he hears us. In knowing that he hears us gives peace in any storm, it also boost our confidence and build our faith.
3. Through using the help of the Holy Spirit- If we attempt to do it by our self then we will not get far because by flesh no man prevails. The Holy Spirit ( John 14:26) is our comforter and teacher, we can therefore ask for help from Him when we are at our wits end. The spirit speaks to us in a soft small voice and listening to this voice can help us achieve our goals without struggles. The reality is we are living in a noisy world so we often miss this small voice. If we listen and key into the voice of the Holy Spirit then we will surely possess our possessions.
Spend sometime today to read a scripture or locate God’s promises in scriptures make a prayer list and ask the Holy Spirit for Guidance.
Why not share some of you prayer request with me and let us pray for one another.
