Obedience to LIVE by! Wait, In This World?

Today’s post is written by guest blogger M.K. Aneal.  You can follow her blog here.

All throughout Scripture we are told to obey God. Not only that, but to give God the obedience that is our very being; giving our all! But, that just can’t be right! There are too many troubles, and heart aches now to trust in God alone? Correct, or incorrect?

Obedience To Live By! Wait, In This World?

* Joshua 1:8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

I remember when I was little, sprawling out in front of my door, moaning in dismay. The truth was, I was sick, but I didn’t want to taste that disgusting medicine on my tongue. The thought startled me, scared me even! So, I just listened to my Mom telling me to take my medicine, while still trying to hide from the fact I was going to have to take it, whether or not it was willingly.

I think, that sometimes we do the same thing in life! We hear God reasonably telling us what we need to do, but, we don’t want to do these things because they are not in line with our plans, they startles us, maybe even scares us! So, we just go on, ignoring His guiding voice with excuses like mine, “It tastes bad!”

Will we ever realize that without us following God, we will never get to where we need to be? Just like, I had to realize I had to take that medicine in order to get better!

Obedience to God is not a multiple choice; if you are a Christian your obedience to God is what will mould you into who, and what, you need to be! The God of the Old Testament, is the same God of today, and what God asked of the prophets then, He asks of you now!

This world will be troublesome, and give us excuses not to follow Christ, but maybe, you should look beyond the daily reasons ‘why not,’ and, instead see, ‘why to!’ God is a God of reasons, but that doesn’t mean we will always see them! God works in mysterious ways, just obey, and one day you will see!!

And that, ‘why to,’  is always because: God says so!!

And, above all, always remember Jesus loves you!!

For Jesus first loved me <3

Mary Kate is a writer who met Jesus at the age of seven! There was plenty of distractions, and troubles that led her astray, but Jesus always found her and brought her back! Her prayer is this, “Lord, let me inspire others, today, to follow you!”

M.K. states

“I’m a pretty random person, in fact, it’s a miracle I can write something that makes sense. Hehe.”
“The Lord Jesus loves you!”

M.K. and I would love to hear from you. Is it possibly for Christians to live obedient in today’s world?

Remain blessed

    Hi, Hildah!
    Such a lovely name 😀
I’m so very sorry for the delay!!
I pray I can say this, the way the Lord wants me to.
This is such a deep question; one that definitely needs thought!!
And, one that I have asked, myself, SO many times! Because really, something so deep as talking to God, puts such emphasis on the subject, and it makes us ponder!

First and foremost, let me just say I agree with Kerrian, completely!! Right on there 😀
The main way we can make sure God is the one speaking to us, is that the answer we are getting is Biblical. God’s words will always agree with Scripture <3
So the first thing to ask is, Is this Biblical?

Secondly, sometimes everything is so loud – life, worries, other's words, and etc., that we can't seem to find God in it all. Praying, reading the Bible, and communicating with the Lord is of so much help when it comes to this! And remember, God is a friend, and its great to just talk to Him like a friend 😀

Thirdly, sometimes we expect God to speak in a deep, echoing voice that catches our attention, but really, sometimes God speaks in that soft, caring voice so that we will know, when we do put away all the noise, that it is His voice! Sometimes it isn't as loud as what we want, but it's always perfect!

And lastly, there are times when God speaks directly to the heart, instead of the mind. He may put a push, a burden that makes you think, and when it doesn't leave, it may very well be God speaking ((:

Hearing God's voice is sometimes trivial, but sometimes we just need to wait, until we are sure it's Him speaking. If it's His plan, it'll come! Pray, trust, and know He is with you 😀

I pray I helped with this, and really this was a brilliant question!
And, let me just tell you that the fact you are wanting to hear God, sounds like you are where you need to be <3

A song came to mind when I read your question, so I figured I may should share it: https://youtu.be/PwS-p-n4Fco

Isaiah 30:21 – And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This [is] the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

    God bless you, my friend!

I understand and I agree 100% but Kerrie or MK how do I know that it is God speaking ? and I need to be obedient ? Or is it me telling myself what I think I want to hear ?

I am asking this for myself and other Christians who might be struggling with this as well ….

      Hi Hildah,
So lovely to have you reading the posts here.I am sure MK will reply as well.

We know God through His words, so that is always a starting point to know when He is speaking. In my early years of Christianity I asked that question a lot. But then I realised that once I study His word things became clearer to me. The more I know the mind of God towards me the more I know when He is speaking. Please note that I am not talking about hearing voices. I am talking about having a deep conviction of the Holy Spirit in your Heart leading you to do things which are scriptural. Anything which is not scriptural is not from God. To really know the truth you have to “feast” on His word. You will then find every other areas of your life transformed.
Please not that as Christians we are at time disobedient., I have been at times. For e.g. being told to give a certain amount of my increase away but because I had other plans for it I made excuses and didn’t do it. The question here is, is it scriptural to give to the less fortunate or to give to the advancement of God’s Kigdom? off course it is. I didn’t do it because I said I was not sure if it was my imagination or it was God.
The truth is you just have to be prayerful and live a peaceful life so the Spirit of God can work in us. And also ask in prayer specifically not miss the voice of the Holy Spirit.
      Remain blessed Hildah.

    M. K. I am so honoured to have you guest posting on my blog.
I love your devotion contents on your blog. They are very relevant to our Christian walk , however hard the topic may be.
As per this post. I love the fact that you have made it clear that the God of the old Testament is the same today and forever more. I believe that sometimes us Christians have a “water down” version of who God is. We do this by doing what we know is wrong and say grace abound. I see this as abuse of liberty.
I pray that God will engrace use to live a godly life.
